Donations
The Volunteer Centers of Michigan is an affiliate of Michigan Nonprofit
Association, a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit organization and is
supported by the ConnectMichigan Alliance endowment.
Your donations to Volunteer Centers of Michigan or to Michigan Nonprofit
Association qualify for tax deductions under IRS determination.
Donations to the Michigan Nonprofit Association endowment may also
qualify you for a tax credit under Michigan law.
- Local Volunteer Centers
that are VCM members all have 501(c)(3) status as charitable
organizations, because of their mission of public benefit and service.
- Your donations to a Volunteer Center qualify for tax deductions under IRS determination.
- Many Volunteer Centers have received Michigan’s Volunteer
Investment Grants to build their capacity as community volunteer
resource centers. These are state government challenge grants
administered by the Michigan Community Service Commission. Each
qualifying Volunteer Center deposits funding raised locally into
permanent endowments in their Community Foundation. These are matched as
operation grants by the Volunteer Investment Grants program.
Call your Volunteer Center to determine if they participated in the
Michigan’s Volunteer Investment Grant program. If the Volunteer Center
has a permanent endowment in a community foundation, your donation to
the designated endowment may qualify for a Michigan tax credit, as well
as federal tax deductions.
