Mission and Services

The Volunteer Centers of Michigan (VCM) is a statewide network of 26 operational and 5 start-up Volunteer Centers serving 60 Michigan counties.

Volunteer Centers mobilize people and resources to deliver creative solutions to community problems. Through the convening of organizations, the promotion of community service, and the matching of volunteers to nonprofit programs and events, Volunteer Centers take a leadership role in addressing key community issues.

Services
To this end, VCM programs and services include member communications, workshops and seminars, local consultations, quarterly meetings, an annual retreat, grant making, dissemination and promotion of best practices, advocacy, and public education initiatives.

VCM was the first Volunteer Center state or regional organization in the country to employ a Director to more effectively and efficiently serve its constituency.

First incorporated in 1992, VCM became an affiliate program of Michigan Nonprofit Association in 1993. In 2001, in response to the creation of the ConnectMichigan Alliance, a hub organization for volunteerism in our state, VCM was invited to partner as one of the Alliance’s premier organizations, promoting statewide community volunteerism.

The Volunteer Centers of Michigan has joined with Michigan Nonprofit Association to strengthen local communities through our effective support of Volunteer Centers and volunteer collaborations.
