Strategic Plan

The Volunteer Centers of Michigan works on behalf of volunteer centers, not as a trade association, but as a support to each Volunteer Center’s efforts to promote voluntary civic involvement as a primary response and solution to local community problems. Our strategic plan is designed to enhance the Volunteer Centers’ professional capacity to serve Michigan’s communities, and to build volunteerism statewide.

Our overarching goals are the following:

• Establish a common identity for Michigan Volunteer Centers.
  
• Enhance the ability of local Volunteer Centers to pursue sustainable funding.
  
• Enhance advocacy efforts (“unified voice”) on behalf of VCM Member Centers.
  
• Enhance professional development and support services for Volunteer Center Directors and staff.
  
• Work toward 100% coverage of all counties by a local Volunteer Center.
  
• Utilize technology as a more effective tool for Volunteer Center communication and support.
  
• Ehnance data collection of local Volunteer Centers for the purpose of enhancing community impact.
• Establish a comprehensive VCM Directory of member demographics and services.
  
• Pursue funding opportunities on behalf of the network, to be redistributed to local Volunteer Centers.
  
• Maintain VCM’s position as a leader in the state and the country.
  
• Enhance participation in network events and opportunities by all members.
